Three men struggle to save their relationship while traveling across country in search of a doctor they believe will make one of them well.

Summer 1989, East Germany. Adam works as a tailor, Evelyn as a waitress. They are planning a vacation together when Evelyn finds out that Adam is cheating on her and decides to leave for the holiday on her own. She travels to Hungary, trailed by Adam. As the border with Austria falls, everything changes in Hungary. The frontiers are open, as the new possibilities for Adam and Evelyn to decide in which world – Eastern or Western – they want to build a happy life. Adam und Evelyn is based on the homonymous novel by Ingo Schulze, translated in more than ten languages.

Stefan Gabriel (Martin Wuttke) ist Bademeister und engagierter Vater zweier sehr unterschiedlicher Töchter. Die 12-jährige Jessica (Ella Frey) wird wegen ihres wenig mädchenhaften Aussehens oft fü(🤥)r einen Jungen gehalten und hat mit einer ganzen Reihe Ticks zu kä(⛷)mpfen. Ihre drei Jahre ä(🤒)ltere Schwester Sabrina (Emilia Bernsdorf) ist hingegen zwar hü(😾)bsch, leidet aber unter einer schweren Krankheit. Im gleichen Maße, wie Sabrinas Zustand schlechter wird, werden Jessicas Ticks immer schlimmer, weswegen die jüngere Schwester einen Plan ersinnt: Ein spezielles Ritual, auf das die Geschwister in einem Buch gestoßen sind, soll für Sabrinas Heilung sorgen, allerdings muss sie dafür Sex mit einem Jungen haben.
